Monday, October 31

World History I - We watched CNN Student News, and discussed a separate news story dealing with the world population.  The world population climbed over seven billion today, and we talked about some of the implications of that.  Then students grabbed a textbook, and worked out of that.  They were reading through the first few sections of chapter eight and filling in a guided note worksheet.  Topics included how royal power grew, conflicts with the Pope, and the crusades.  This will be finished tomorrow.  Students were informed that they will have a test on Thursday of this week over chapter seven and eight.

Government - Started with CNN Student News, and also discussed the world's population.  Then we began the Bill into Law process, focusing on a bill's route through the House of Representatives.  We will finish the process in the Senate tomorrow.  We also watched the School House Rocks "I'm Just a Bill" cartoon to reinforce the process.  Government will also have a test at the end of the week on the Legislative Branch, which is chapters five through seven.

In other news:
-Congratulations to T.J. Schienbein for placing 11th in the State Cross Country Finals this past Saturday!

-Congratulations to the girls volleyball team for a successful season, and for advancing to Semi-State!

Happy Halloween!
