World History II - In World History today, students started by watching CNN Student News.  Then Mrs. Cartwright gave them a few minutes to prepare for a short quiz on chapter twenty one.  Moving into chapter twenty two gave the students an introduction to Germany and its' background as it began to unify.  As they move through chapter twenty two through the rest of this week, students will learn about individual countries situations and the events that will lead us up to World War I.

Economics - In Econ, students also started with CNN Student News.  After Student News, they looked a bit more in depth on chapter six, which is about price and combining supply and demand.  They went through the first section, which details the role of price in our economy, and what would happen if we used other systems.  They also began section two, which covers supply and demand graphs.  The class saw three examples to get them started, and will continue this tomorrow.

Monday, February 13

First, apologies for the lack of updates lately.  Here is what has been happening in my classes:

World History II - Mrs. Cartwright has led them through a couple chapters since I last updated.  They have now covered chapter eighteen on the French Revolution and chapter nineteen on the Industrial Revolution.  They took a test over chapters seventeen and eighteen, and have taken a separate test on chapter nineteen.  At this point, we are just starting chapter twenty, which covers other revolutions in Europe and Latin America.

Economics - Mrs. Cartwright has led this class on as well.  They have made their way through the introductory chapters and should now know about the main ideas of Economics.  The class took a test on chapters one through three about a week ago.  They also continue to participate in the stock market game.  Each Wednesday the class goes to the library to research and update their stock portfolios.  At present, the class is making its way through supply and demand.  In the last few days, the focus was on demand.  Now our attention will shift to supply, which is chapter five.

In other news:
-Congratulations to Cody Phillips and Austin Fuller as they moved on to the State Wrestling meet to be held at Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis this upcoming weekend!

-Remind that parent teacher conferences are next Monday, February 20 from 12:00 to 7:30.
