Monday, April 16

World History II - Today we started with a general schedule update for the remainder of the semester.  Students should now know the basic progression of World History II for the rest of the year.  Then we watched CNN Student News.  After the news, we finished chapter twenty six section three.  We briefly reviewed some of the key ideas from Friday, and then went on to discuss the reasons that the United States joined World War I, then added the finishing touches to the war, and finalized it all by discussing Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points.  With the time that remained, papers were passed back, and students read further into All Quiet on the Western Front.  Chapter five from the book will be checked tomorrow.  Also, students will be taking a test over chapter twenty six on Friday.

Economics - Today in economics, we started with CNN Student News.  From there, we caught up those students who missed Friday's class.  Students were then given a situation involving taxes to illustrate trade offs and also illustrating the differences in benefits received for differing tax rates.  Then students were broken up into eight groups of three.  Each group was given two topics that involve ways that they government takes in revenue.  Each group had to describe how the government makes money on their tax, show the percentage of revenue brought in by the tax, and add any additional information such as how the tax is collected.  Students were given roughly 5 minutes to gather information, and then presented it to the class.  This will be finished tomorrow in class.  We will also go through section three tomorrow.  Students then on Wednesday will take a quiz/test over chapter eight and nine on Wednesday.
